Painted in July 2007 late afternoon, this piece holds the green waters of the Main Salmon captured at Groundhog Bar. Groundhog is located at mile 43 on the Main located in the heart of the 2.3 million acre Frank Church Wilderness. This was painted during the fire storm of the South Fork where over 5,000 acres were burning. Groundhog is a beautiful beach that is home to the oldest cabin along the Main Salmon. Groundhog bar is also home to Whiplash, one of the largest rapids on the river at flood stage flows. The view is facing west looking downstream through the silhouetted ridges of fire season.
